Examinations & Performance
Classes
Examinations are held in the spring of each year. Classes are taught based on examination requirements with the intention of all students taking exams. Exam fees are in addition to tuition fees and go directly to the examining body. These examinations can earn high school and college credits above Grade 4.
An important part of the Mount Airy Performing Arts Center's program is the testing through examination process. This clearly defines learning goals and outcomes for students and parents. It is a valuable tool in charting students' strengths and weaknesses in a positive and exciting way. All students are expected to participate in either the examinations or performance classes. These take place in March or April, typically and entrance for either is decided by the teacher in December of the preceeding school year. Fees are charged by the examining boards and are due before entrants can be entered. These fees go directly to the examining body.
The Royal Academy of Dance offers examination and performance class testing in grades Pre-Primary through Grade 8. All graded examinations take place at the studio. Vocational exams are held at a local center and are for the pre-professional student.
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance offers examinations class tests and medal awards in modern and tap.
Trinity offers examinations in instrumental, voice, musical theatre, acting and speech. We are a designated center for Trinity examinations.
As MAPAC grows and expands, our students will be able to participate in these programs which are all internationally recognized. Students in levels 4 and above may be eligible to earn High School and College credits.
